Prevention Educators Skill Building Training

It's Not Them, It's You

A workshop about dealing with difficult audiences

GNESA & DPH invite you to join us at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center for a free two day training titled: It's Not Them, It's You. You will participate in an abbreviated version of Catharsis Productions' Force of Awesome Institute, a week long educator and presentation skills capacity-building program. It incorporates key research on Moral Domain Theory, the Theory of Cultural Cognition, Hindsight Bias, and Schema Theory in order to provide a comprehensive foundation for the practical application of key presenting and curriculum-designing skills. All participants will develop insights into their own presentation style, and develop the analytical ability to assess their own work and others. Finally, the workshop will provide the opportunity for participants to explore the most challenging questions they receive during typical training sessions, and learn how to effectively respond to them. One will come away from this training with improved presentation skills and increased capacity.

RPE Grantees are required to attend both days of this training (including the center director and prevention educators). All participants are expected to attend both days of this training. Any staff members who conduct prevention activities for an RPE can attend. Training is open to non-grantee centers if there is space. Space is limited and RPE grantees have priority.

No CEU's will be offered.

Please note a cafeteria with several options is adjacent to the training space and parking at the venue is free.

A block of rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express Forsyth for participants for two nights (December 1-2).

Reimbursement for hotel, mileage, and meals is for RPE grantees only.
